Hello and welcome to the Solid Round Tools Knowledge Session. During this series we will cover features, strategies and products relating to Solid Round Tools. As always we start with safety. My name is Ben Lodge and I am the Solid Round Tools Product Specialist and today I am joined by John. Thanks Ben, my name is Jonathan Palmer, I am the MTS Digital Specialist. And today we are going to be looking into our digital offer when it comes to our portfolio. So can you give us a little bit of an overview to start off with? Yeah sure. So we have everything from the design all the way through to the verification stage in engineering. So we have the Coroplus tool library, Coroplus tool guide which we will be going through today, Coroplus machining guide, then through to the operations planning where we have Coroplus toolpath, then we go into the production logistics where we have Coroplus tool supply, and then through to the monitoring stage where we have the likes of machining foresights, machining insights, Coroplus process control which is collision detection and we have all the tooling logistics. And then we have the Coroplus tooling solutions as well. Right okay. So we will have a look a little bit deeper into that now. Yeah sure. Yeah so we go into Coroplus Silent Tools Plus where we have Bluetooth in the back of one of our Silent Tools bars, where you can actually now start to look at what is happening at the very tip of the insert. We can then go into DTH Plus where again Bluetooth, we can actually see what is happening on your driven tool holder, whereas if it is vibration or temperature monitoring. We have Coroplus process control which is more to do with the collision detection or tool break system. Okay. And how do we view this information then? Is it on a tablet or is it a laptop? It is all via tablet or it can be via laptop. As long as we have the Bluetooth connection that is all that is really required. Right okay. And a lot of it can be live data then that we are getting from there. Yeah definitely. So all live data and with process control it can be historical data as well. Oh that is fantastic. So then we can go into more of the planning stage. So we have the Coroplus Machining Guide, where you can put a component into a system that will then provide you with a start to finish of machining. We have the Coroplus tool supply which is then to do with your tool inventory and what is actually what you have in stock and in your inventory in the workshop. And then you go onto the more the newer products with the Coroplus Machining 4 sites where we are looking at machine utilisation etc. And then we go into Coroplus Machining Insights which now you are looking at more of a utilisation still but you can actually start to delve in and actually see what is happening on your machine at a specific time. Whereas if you have a specific component you want to monitor or anything like that. You then go into the Coroplus tool guide which we will be talking through today where we can get cutting data for a specific tool. And then you have got Coroplus tool library. The tool library is more to do with the actual tool in itself and getting step files and drawings. Ok and then we can import them into our CAD CAM software if we need to. Yes we can yeah. Ok so let's have a little bit of a look into that now and see what we can find out. Sounds good. So as we go to our website the first thing we would advise is signing in as we can see there that is highlighted. So we have advantage of that from signing in don't we with the tool assembly that we are going to talk about later. We do yes. So as we go into the tools area we select metal cutting and then we will move into tool recommendation and this is where we are going to get some questions basically about the application that we are doing. So here we want to enter our Coroplus tool guide. As we can see there we have got the different application areas. But first we want to select our material. And we can see there we have got some standard materials across the ISO range but we are actually going to search a material here. So we are looking at the C45 material. And we can see there the information is updated. We are then going to have a look at the task and we return to this area that we were before. We are going to select the non-rotating option and we can see here a number of options available to us. But we are going to look at producing a hole. And here we are going to do a cylindrical hole in a solid material. So now we want to put information about the application. So we start off with our machining diameter. And then we are going to look at the depth of the hole that we need to machine. Now we need to look at the tolerance that we would like the hole to be. And we can see a number of tolerances available to us. And once we have processed that information here is where we get the recommendation. So we can see here the 860 PM has been recommended to us. And we have a number of options, alternatives on the right hand side. And we can see there both the VC, the cutting data and the FN, the feed available to us. If we are going to show more detail, it gives us a lot more information. And we can see again the VC, the feed, the amount of power which is required and also the amount of torque. And we can see there as well the feed force available. As we go back to the overview. Now we are going to have a look at the tool assembly. So John can you tell us a little bit about tool assembly? Yeah, of course. So we have two options, either the Cariplus tool library or online tool assembler. So today we are going to select the online tool assembler and continue with the tool we selected through tool guide. So as you can see here, it has loaded up the tool that we selected in tool guide. And as we scroll down we can now look at actually the point angle. We can see the flute length and body diameter. So now we need to find out actually what can we put on the top of this tool to put it into the machine itself. So here we are going to select the rotation adapter. And here we have five options. So you can either the adaptive interface machine direction and the connection diameter. So here we are going to select a C6 back end. And then we will hit the apply button. And here now we will have a list of all C6 back ends that will fit this tool. So now we are going to pick a 930 Corachuk Slender that will sort of fit the back end of this drill. So now as we scroll down we have now three options. The 3D model, which you can see on the left hand side. We have the 2D drawing, DXF, that we can generate. Now we have the GTC package, which will be everything incorporated into one area. So when you select this we will then give it an assembly name. So we will set Corridrill 860 GM. And then we will put the diameter just for more information. Once we hit OK this will now be generated. And once available we will hit download. Once we have hit download it will then be downloaded into our download section. On our laptops or PCs. And here you can find it as a zip file. So what we would like to do is extract all into that location or a location of your choice. And now as you can see we have all the product drawings, models and even images of the product itself. So now as you can see we will go into the 3D models basic. And here you can see each section of it. So here is the step file for the actual assembly itself. So then we will open up Mastercam Design 2021. We will go into our download section or wherever it is being saved to. Go into the area where it is. We need to ensure we hit all files as it is a step file. You can double select that. Attempt to heal solids during process and then hit OK. And now as you can see we have now downloaded the product into Mastercam. So now we are going to do a bit of a different approach to our website. So we are going to look for a product and then get the cutting data using Coralplus tool guide. So if we know the product code for a milling cutter. So here we are looking at the 2P342. We can select that on our website from the search bar. And we can see all the information of the product there that we have available. We then select calculate cutting data. And the tools are automatically selected for us. Again we can look for our material. So this time we are going to look at the SS2541 material. And we are going to the task like we did previously. This time we are going to look at a pocket using the milling cutter. And we are going to do a rectangular pocket. And from a solid material. And now we need to put in some information about the feature. So we have a number of operations. Either pre-machining, finishing or pre-machining and finishing. And we put the feature dimensions in. So firstly the depth, the width and also the length. Should there be a radius requirement we can also add that. So with this example we are putting a 6mm radius in the corner. And we are also able to select a dynamic milling method. So a high feed side milling method available to us. And we can see there the cutter arc angle available. Once we go through we can then see the cutting data that is available to us. And we can see there are two stages of the information. Both the helical ramp but also the milling of the pocket as well. And if we go into show detail. The information is then outlined to us. So we can see there that there is different information when it comes to both the helical milling operation. And also the machining of the pocket. So there are two different types of cutting data available for the operations within the material. We can also see the differences between the AE and the AP. So the radial and the axial depth of cut. And if we want to change that we can go into the options. So NOP, number of passes change. And we can make a change either to the AE or the AP. And that will change the cutting data for us as well. And we can see there the difference in the engagement. Or we can reset it back to how it was before. There we can also see the effective ramp angle. So we do have the recommendations for the ramp angle available as part of Coralplus tool guide. So Ben, are there any other ways of accessing this data? Yeah, I mean obviously we have looked at a PC or laptop version. And we also have apps available that can be downloaded to people's smart devices. So we have the iFind available as an app that can be downloaded. And this gives us a lot of options that we can see here. So we can find a tool, the cutting data, handle orders. You know, the search function we used before. We're able to search for a specific product or even a family as we can see there with the Coramil family. If you're looking to actually having the product physically in front of us, we are actually able to scan the barcode on there. And from there we can get the information available for that product. So as we can see there we've got the tool item itself. And also we've got tool guide as we've seen before. So a similar way of working where we select the task. And what kind of operation that we're doing. As we can see here, non-rotating. We're going to look at producing a hole. And we put the relevant information in there. And we'll get the same output as we did online through our PC. So here we're seeing a recommendation, a 20mm diameter drill. And we're looking at the Coradrill 870. And getting the cutting data and information about that product from there. And that can be downloaded both on a mobile phone but also a tablet as well. So we're seeing the same information available when it comes to getting tool recommendations from our website as we are on a smart device.
