To be in the game you need to deliver. My name is Norbert Düring. I'm the manager of engineering projects Automotive Europe located in Germany. I started as a mechanic and I fell in love with the metal cutting industry. I really like applying the right tools with the right cutting data and that is still driving me. I have a fantastic team. We have more than 150 years engineering experience between us. We do a lot of projects for automotive industry, for end customers but also projects for machine tool makers. They are very often turnkey projects. Here we work very close with the machine tool maker to create the process, to machine the component in the best possible way. The key challenges with working on aluminum is that the machines run with high feed and RPM. The tools need to be balanced on a very small tolerance. We work a lot with customized solutions. They are adopted to the special needs from the customer. The life cycle of components is getting shorter and shorter. We need to be fast to understand the problem. You need to be fast with the proposal, with time study, with engineering, with collision check, with CAM support, and CAD support. The question is not how many issues you have.
